Ever since Eve took that first bite of the apple, the human race has been obsessed with
beauty. The truth is once you hit your mid-twenties; you are now in the aging process. So, it is important to take measures to prevent fine lines and wrinkles and support natural and graceful aging while being ok with how you look, because we know it can impact how you feel.
Every day you are bombarded with messages and beauty tips that attempt to lure you into believing that the most recent miracle drug is just what you need to fight off the ravages of Mother Nature.
The best route to natural beauty and healthy skin is to take care of what you have. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? The truth is that your skin takes a beating from so much every single day. Here are some of our favourite beauty tips for keeping your skin fresh and healthy:
- Keep your skin clean and nourished, simply. Cleanse your face every day and apply masks 1-3 times per week for some extra love as well as a good daily nourishing cream. Mask more than exfoliate to give the skin the nurturing, nourishment and love it needs and deserves! Make it easy with our sheet masks, wear it while you are cooking dinner or doing the house tidy up or lazing in the bath. Our obsession with The Unnamed sheet masks, which are easy to use and super effective in their delivery to the skin are the best addition to your routine.
- A happy outlook triggers the release of endorphins. Endorphins relax the cardiovascular system and cytokines, which alert the immune system to pay attention to detecting abnormalities like cancer cells. Listen carefully to yourself. If you have put yourself down since childhood, over a lifetime, negative subliminal messages can take their toll by turning you into a pessimist. Spend one week writing down the phrases you use in your “self-talk.” Chances are you will find that you repeat a dozen or so phrases over and over again that reinforce that negative image. If you know about them, you can change them. Outer beauty and inner joy go hand in hand.
- An oldie but a goodie, stay hydrated and drink water! That does not mean soft drinks, caffeine and low calorie soft drinks, as they have a high concentration of sodium, which retains fluids. You need fluid that will hydrate and flush your body free of toxins. Make sure you are drinking at least 1.5 – 2.5 litres of water per day. Add some lemon, cucumber and mint for the extra benefits to nourish the body and skin. For many years I was not a water drinker but I trained myself to start small and increase the daily amount over time. Tap water always tasted yuck to me so filtered or bottled water is my go to and if herbal teas are your thing, they add to your water intake, so drink up!
- Protect your skin from harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. We all love the sun. We love being in it and we love having a beautiful tan. UV rays can cause skin cancer and if that isn’t bad enough it causes your skin to age faster than it should, contributing to unsightly wrinkles. If you must play in the sun, make certain you are using an adequate sunscreen. Don’t leave home without it!
- Prevention is better than cure! The best cure for wrinkles is to slow them down, as they are a natural way of life. If you are like most of us, your skin in your 20’s was amazing and you just couldn’t image it aging….well ask anyone (without injectables) how their skin started to change when they turned 30 and 40. Take their advice and get preventing with supplements to support your collagen and elastin being produced in the body. Think also vitamins A, C, E and D. Not sure which ones to choose? Try our Award Winning Optima Nutricosmetics Ultimate 1.0 Complete Skin Food Elixir, an all in one collagen, pre and probiotic vitamin rich daily dose drink
- Eat healthily. Knowing how and what to eat, can make a huge difference in how you feel. Improper eating habits can cause depression, weight gain, illness and overall lethargy. It also doesn’t help your skin. So make sure to plenty of veggies, good fats, fruits and protein. Where you can try and eat within a 8- 10 hour window to support your digestive health and not overload it.
Get ready to glow up without much effort
